Job Description

ENVIRONMENT

Working Days per Week: 2-5 days per week (negotiable)
Working Hours: 4-8 hours between 6:30 and 21:00
Salary: ¥1,200 or more per hour (¥1,177 during 30-hour training period)
+¥50 on weekends and holidays
Work Location: 1-1-3 Umeda, Kita-ku, Osaka
Osaka Ekimae Building No.3, B2-89
Nearest Station: Right by Higashi-Umeda Station, 7 min walk from Umeda Station, 8 min walk from Osaka Station
Transportation Allowance: Up to ¥600 per day
Job Responsibilities: Floor and kitchen staff position at Sunshine Café.
Responsibilities include greeting and seating guests, taking orders, serving food and drinks, clearing tables, and when available, helping with drink preparation and assisting with cooking sandwiches, omelette rice, and other dishes.
Dress Code: Uniform provided / Changing room available
Environment: Non-smoking establishment

Living in Hyogo Prefecture, Sugawara was looking for a part-time job in Umeda, which is conveniently located between her school and home, when she discovered Sunshine Café. In fact, Sunshine Café was her very first part-time job.
"I wasn't particularly good at communication," Sugawara says with a laugh. However, supported by the kind encouragement of the owner and senior staff, she has now fully settled into the café and found it to be a comfortable place to work.
The flexible scheduling that allows her to balance university club activities with work is one of the reasons she's glad she chose Sunshine Café. "I'm happy that I can work while valuing both my studies and my personal time," she says, conveying how easy it is to work at Sunshine Café.

What's the atmosphere like working at Sunshine Café?

Sunshine Café is a workplace with many busy periods. All staff members work in multiple roles, from serving and delivering food in the dining area to cooking and making drinks in the kitchen.
Because of this, it's an environment where you can feel yourself growing—naturally developing communication skills and learning to make flexible decisions based on the situation.

What kind of person do you think is suited for Sunshine Café?

A defining characteristic of Sunshine Café is that it has many people who approach things seriously and can work while being aware of their surroundings. For those who want to work together with such colleagues, it's a very rewarding workplace.
That said, since it's a busy café... I think people who can enjoy the busy atmosphere are best suited for it.

Tominaga started working at Sunshine Café because of her love for coffee, and before she knew it, she had been supporting the café for over 10 years. A reliable staff member who has handled both floor and kitchen duties since the old location, she now also trains new employees.
Sunshine Café is a busy establishment with an extensive menu and many international customers.
Even in this environment, Tominaga values "assigning tasks they can handle" and strives to create an environment where new staff can start comfortably without feeling overwhelmed. Her calm and gentle demeanor naturally shines through in her personality.
Even during busy times, she takes care of each individual, making her an essential presence in creating Sunshine Café's warm atmosphere.

What do you value when interacting with new staff and colleagues?

Rather than suddenly assigning difficult tasks, she empathizes with new staff who tend to feel nervous and carefully teaches them "what they can do at that moment." This is an approach Tominaga has maintained since her sixth year.
"I used to feel anxious myself. So even now, I ask myself, 'Is my teaching method getting through to them?'"
During busy periods, she often notices just by glancing at staff that they're "feeling rushed" or "struggling."
"Just asking 'Are you okay?' at that moment really eases the atmosphere."
Clear teaching methods and an attitude of thinking from others' perspectives. Her kindness creates a comfortable environment for all staff members.

What do you find appealing about Sunshine Café?

"The reason is definitely the 'people.'"
The café has busy days. Still, she says she's been able to continue for over 10 years because Master Taku creates a comfortable working environment and the staff relationships are so good.
"I make sure we talk often. When we communicate, we can quickly understand each other's situations."
Additionally, the customers are a major appeal for Tominaga.
The many paintings displayed in the café were drawn and brought in by regular customers.
"You don't often find a café like that. It feels like 10 years just flew by."
